Yaskawa Motoman VA1400 Overview
The Yaskawa Motoman VA1400 is a 7-axis robot designed for robotic welding applications. This robot features a 3 kg payload, 1,434 mm horizontal reach, and a 2,475 mm vertical reach. The “Versatile Arc”-1400 saves on space and provides installation flexibility in welding automation with floor, wall, or ceiling mounting options. The Yaskawa Motoman VA/1400 is ideal for high-density layouts and is capable of operating within close proximity of multiple articulated robots without interference for hyper-productivity. Cable interference is prevented with internalized torch cabling through the robot arm. This helps to reduce wear as well as increase the robot’s reliability. The VA.1400 is the first arc welding robot to be designed with a 7th axis located in its lower arm. The 7th axis serves as an elbow for the V/A/1400, improving torch access and providing ideal welding posture at all times. The extra axis increases the robot’s freedom of movement, making it capable of reaching both sides of a workpiece. Unlike standard six axis robots, the 7-axis configuration of the Yaskawa VA 1400 simplifies weld cell equipment and eliminates the need for a part positioner.
The Yaskawa Motoman V-A-1400 is paired with the DX100 controller. The DX100 controller can control up to eight robots with fast processing speeds, collision avoidance, and advanced robot arm motion. This robotic welder can also be to used to automate plasma cutting applications.
This industrial robot is similar in payload and reach to the FANUC Arc mate 100ic, the ABB IRB 1600, and the KUKA KR 6.
