Universal UR5 Overview

Universal Robot’s UR5 is a six-axis collaborative robot. The U/R5 is changing the world of robotic automation by allowing humans to work directly alongside it without the need for safety barriers. This cobot can take on repetitive, dull, or dangerous tasks, freeing your workers from manufacturing hazards.

The Universal UR-5 features a payload capacity of up to 5 kg and a maximum reach of 850 mm. Its light body mass allows for multiple mounting configurations including floor, ceiling, or wall, making it adaptable to many production line setups. In addition, its small footprint allows for space savings, optimizing any manufacturing floor layout.

The Ur5 is capable of performing several types of applications including automated pick and place, robotic packaging, and robotic assembly. The U/R5 provides increased production flexibility with the ability to be reprogrammed and redeployed should application requirements change. In addition, the U-R-5 can work with small batches, provide fast turnaround times, and reuse programs. Additional robotic applications include automated machine tending, robot material handling, and robotic material removal.

Programming the UR.5 is extremely easy and can be done by anyone regardless of robotic programming experience. The U/R/5 may be programmed by manually moving its arm through the desired application path or by using its touchscreen tablet with built-in arrow keys. Easy programming allows users to setup and start operating the Universal UR 5 within a matter of hours.
