FANUC CR-4iA Overview

The FANUC CR-4iA is the smallest model of FANUC’s collaborative robot series. The 6-axis robot features a payload of 4 kg and a reach of 550 mm. The CR4iA’s lighter payload and compact size make it ideal for performing tedious and lightweight tasks. Another benefit of the compact design of the CR-4ia is it is able to operate in narrow or confined work areas unlike other collaborative robots. It also is capable of handling more delicate objects than others in its class. The design of the CR4ia may look familiar since FANUC modeled it after their highly popular LR Mate series. The CR 4iA can be floor, inverted, or angle mounted for greater workspace flexibility and workpiece access.

As with FANUC’s other collaborative robots, the CR 4ia is designed to work alongside humans without the need for safety fencings. It can safely collaborate or work independently with assembly, part transfer, and material handling applications. Featuring FANUC’s proven safe contact stop sensor technology, the CR/4iA will come to a complete stop if it comes into contact with a person or a fixed object. The special green rubber covering provides additional collision protection and prevents workers from encountering the robot’s pinch points. It is ISO 10218-1 safety certified and allows for customizable speed and safety settings.

Programming is simplified with the CR-4iA with hand guidance technology that allows users to break away from traditional pendant programming. With hand guidance users can manually guide the CR/4ia through desired application paths in order to teach the robot. The CR-4ia is then able to replicate the path for simple and easy programming.
