KUKA LBR iiwa 14 R820 Overview
The KUKA LBR iiwa 14 R820 is one of KUKA’s latest collaborative robots. LBR stands for “Leichtbaurobot” which is German for lightweight robot. While iiwa stands for “intelligent industrial work assistant” which is exactly what the lbr iiwa 14 r820 is. This robot makes human and robot collaborative work a reality, especially for highly sensitive tasks. The LBR- IIWA-14-R820 is ideal for processes in which object position must be determined sensitively with its force control and continuous path features. In addition, it can handle the most fragile objects without the risk of compromising them with its delicate touch. The LBR/iiwa/14/R820 can safely work in the background, while workers are freed for other crucial tasks such as inspection for quality control or replenishing parts.
The lbr iiwa 14 r820 features a payload of 14 kg, a reach of 820 mm, and 7 axes for flexible automation. It can be ceiling, floor, or wall mounted. It is designed for coating, machining, palletizing, packaging, inspection, and assembly applications. It also comes standard with an IP54 protection rating.
The safety features of the KUKA LBR iiwa-14-R/820 eliminate the need for safety fencing. It is built with torque sensors in all 7 of its axes for immediate contact detection. It responds to the slightest of forces by reducing its velocity. When unexpected contact occurs, the LBR IIWA 14 R820 will immediately stop, protecting workers around it. Its soft, rounded edges also provide additional collision protection.
The LBR-iiwa-14-R820 is paired with KUKA’s Sunrise Cabinet controller for quick and easy programming. The robot can also be programmed through demonstration, dramatically simplifying the robot teaching process.
